My name is Glen Copeland, owner of Florida Surplus Auctions. When I was 19, the company I worked for filed for bankruptcy and there was an auction. I walked away with an entire walk-in closet worth of office supplies for very little money. I didn't have to buy post-its, paperclips or staples for twenty-some years, and I was hooked. Over the next decade or so while building a career as a computer systems engineer, web designer and eventually IT Director, I continued to attend auctions as a profitable hobby.
In 1998 I joined eBay and began reselling the items I was buying at local auctions. Those of you with as many gray hairs as I have probably think like me- 1998 wasn't that long ago. But to put it in perspective, this was a time when photos in listings meant taking a picture, getting it developed, scanning it and then posting it. Digital cameras came later...
In 2007 I began working with Holzman Auctioneers and D'Amico Auctions, eventually earning my Florida Auctioneers license while conducting auctions for Cities, Counties and School Districts from Gainesville to Kissimmee to Ft. Myers as well as helping with Car Dealership Liquidations both in and out of Florida.
While still working with Holzman and D'Amico, on July 4th, 2014, I launched Florida Surplus Auctions to serve the entire State of Florida with great online, live and hybrid auctions, as well as help other auctioneers all over the country with their technology and staffing needs.
Over the coming months you'll see this website expanding with more details on our available staff and services. I look forward to working with you in the near future! If there's anything I can help with, please don't hesitate to call or e-mail.
